Elinor enters Partnership with Morlus Technology

Elinor Batteries and the battery company Morlus Technology have entered into a partnership that ensures Elinor access to pioneering battery technology and cutting-edge expertise in battery production. The partnership signifies a joint ambition to take a leading position in the European market for Stationary Energy Storage, and to become a driving force for sustainability in the battery industry.

Morlus and Elinor management sign the partnership agreement at Elinors offices in Trondheim, Norway. In front, Shen Xi, CEO of Morlus Technology, and Arne Fredrik Lånke, CEO of Elinor Batteries.

Highly experienced team

Behind Morlus is a team lead by Shen Xi, who has more than 20 years of industry experience in battery research, battery design and factory construction. Mr. Shen worked for many years at the world's largest electric car manufacturer BYD, where he, among other things, led the development of the company's first LFP battery for vehicles and the establishment of China's first gigafactory with a capacity of over 10 GWh.

Shen Xi and Morlus have launched a BESS focused product line, and are building up to an annual , highly automated production capacity of 10GWh. In recognition of the strong common focus on the green transition and complimentary strengths, Morlus has chosen to enter into a broad partnership with Elinor Batteries.

"Collaboration with world-leading battery technologists is absolutely central to realizing profitable battery production in Norway," says the general manager of Elinor Batteries, Arne Fredrik Lånke.

Early market entry

The agreement means that Elinor will be ready with its own batteries for commercial sale in Europe within six months - currently produced at Morlus' factory in China. This also speeds up the factory plans in Orkland, where the goal is to make an investment decision in 2025. Both the product roadmap and production line concepts will be aligned to Morlus based on their immense experience, and adapted to the European market and Norwegian industrial standards.

Valinor owner Lars Helge Helvig is very satisfied with the collaboration agreement that has been signed.

“The collaboration with a technology partner represents a new phase for the company, and provides unique prerequisites for getting started. This is really similar to what Norway did when we started with the oil. We had the natural prerequisites, but not the knowledge. We had to get it from outside” says Helvig.

For Morlus Technology, the collaboration with Elinor Batteries represents a unique opportunity to enter the European market.

“Norway is the country with the highest proportion of renewable energy globally, and it has a strong industrial foundation. Both will enable us to produce a green and low-carbon battery, which is unique. The Elinor team has demonstrated exceptional professionalism, efficiency, and immense passion for the work they will undertake. Coupled with their investor Valinor’s rich experience and comprehensive layout in the renewable energy sector, we hold full anticipation and strong confidence in our future collaboration” says Shen.
